Wirral TweetUp is Back!

30th April 2010 by Kay

Good news the Wirral TweetUp is making a second return for 2010 – following on from the success of the last one, we thought we’d do it all again!

If you’ve never been to the Wirral TweetUp before this is your chance, and it’s the perfect opportunity to meet those you talk to everyday, yet have never met.

Why not have a look at the #wirraltweetup Flickr group to see what we all got up to last time? Many avid tweetup’ers said it was the best TweetUp they had been to!

So start the summer with a bang, and let us give something back to the Wirral twitter community & raise lots of money to a very worthy cause!

When & Where

Join us on 29th & 30th of May at 6pm at Cromwells Restaurant, Wirral, to help raise more money for The Childrens Adventure Trust, meet new friends and have a really fun evening.

Please Note All places for the 29th have now sold out. They sold out in under 15 hours! So we’ve deceided to add another date on the 30th! You can come twice if you want but priority will be given to those not already attending.

Best be sharp as there will be a raffle at about 7pm, followed by a free buffet. All that we ask is that you buy your own drinks and a few raffle tickets.

Please RSVP as soon as possible at http://twtvite.com/230t1y for the 29th and http://twtvite.com/rufumy for the 30th and don’t forget to tweet about it by using the #wirraltweetup tag.

You can also follow all the latest news, raffle prizes, and details on twitter at www.twitter.com/wirraltweetup

Who are we doing it for?

This time around we’ve decided to support the Childrens Adventure Farm Trust. You can find them on twitter too @adventurefarm

They provide holidays and activities for terminally ill, chronically sick, disabled and disadvantaged children from all over the Northwest.

The concept of The Children’s Adventure Farm Trust (CAFT) was conceived in 1985 by a small group of volunteers that included our former Founder Patron, Tim Grundy.

Based around a beautiful 17th century farmhouse, in the heart of Cheshire countryside, the Charity offers free adventure breaks and activities to children who are disadvantaged by illness, disability and poverty, from all over the Northwest.

How can you help?

We’re always on the look out for raffle prizes as this is how we raise money on the night. So if you know of any businesses or individuals that would like to help and donate could you email Kay at mail@cromwells-irby.co.uk. If you’re not able to make either of the nights yet you want to contribute you can donate money via the Wirral TweetUp Just giving Page

The Childrens Adventure Farm Trust

May 20, 2010 by Kay

We’ve decided this time around to support The Childrens Adventure Farm Trust & infact they have become our charity of the year!

We know about #CAFT through Twitter, as a few friends of ours are supporting them by doing the “Sahara Stomp” later on this year.

We really want to raise as much money as we can for them, and we do that through a raffle, and are in need of prizes. So if you know of a business or organisation that would like to help tell them to get in touch!

Based within ten acres of beautiful Cheshire countryside, The Children’s Adventure Farm Trust is a haven for hundreds of disabled and disadvantaged children. Our aim is to provide special holidays for special children. Groups of children, average age 4 – 14, and their carers, visit The Farm for a free weeklong holiday.

The centrally heated accommodation comprises of 4 bedrooms each with 4 single beds and one staff room (to accommodate carers) with 2 beds, fridge, medical cabinet, TV and phone. Each floor has a large bathroom. On the ground floor there is a fully fitted kitchen, large dining room. The large lounge has a music centre, TV and DVD player. The lounge leads on to a conservatory. All rooms are homely and comfortable, in keeping with the character of a 17th century farmhouse. The house is available for hire at certain times of the year.

Wirral TweetUp – What an amazing night!

February 24, 2010 by Kay

Well what can I say? The Wirral TweetUp, again, has been a resounding success. Amazing night and some amazing company! Good vibes, raised a lot of money for the Wirral Ark Project, £308.01 to be precise!

You know @CocaBeenSlinky and @pilgrimfamilyuk came all the way up from London, just to come to the Wirral TweetUp? Amazing having met them and everyone else.

We even got a mention from Sarah Brown, Gordon’s wife – who lives in number 10… You know who I’m on about ;)

A twet from Sarah Brown

I can’t thank Twitter enough, we’ve met some amazing people, and very much looking forward to the next one. Would especially like to thank @novawildstar, @sarahg, @ap4a and @guruchill for all their time and help. You guys rock.

Fancy DJ’ing at the Wirral TweetUp?

January 24, 2010 by Kay

As a few of you may well know we’re fans of Apple (as in the computers) here at Cromwells. It’s got to the point where we have 2 macs and an iphone. All of which are used in the restaurant on a daily basis. Whether it’s twittering pictures of food, replying to emails instantly, or playing the music in the restaurant, the macs do it all.

We use iTunes to play our music, it also integrates with the Apple Remote app for the iPhone. It does many things, I can turn the music down & skip tracks when I’m away from the computer but the biggest of which is the ability to allow guests to vote for songs.

We couldn’t help but notice just how many of you were using iPhones at the last Wirral TweetUp so we thought we’d give it a go. You’ll be able to see the song details, upcoming songs, request songs in our library (all 30gb of music!), and vote on which songs you want to hear next.

So the more votes a song gets, the higher it will climb on the playlist, and the sooner it’ll get played. Think of it as a free Jukebox, and a clever one too.

All you’ll need to do on the night is connect to our Wi-Fi network, open the Remote app on your iPhone and get voting. It really is as simple as that!

Wirral TweetUp Helping Wirral Churches Ark Project

January 13, 2010 by Kay

Proceeds from this Wirral TweetUp will go to Wirral Churches’ Ark Project.

Can you imagine sleeping rough in the bad weather we’ve had recently? With temperatures diving to as low as -10, the Wirral Churches’ Ark Project help homeless people by getting them off the streets, and supporting them back to independance.

They say we’re only a pay packet away from being homeless, and in times of economic strife, these charities need all the help they can get.

Here’s some more information about The Ark.

What is the Ark?
The Ark is a homeless charity based in Birkenhead on the Wirral. In addition to operating Mary Cole House, our direct access emergency homeless hostel, we also have Arkangel; our six 2-bedroom supported ‘move-on’ houses.

What do we do?
Our homeless hostel, Mary Cole House, offers a bed in an individual room, three meals a day, facilities for washing clothes, support and activities. It is staffed and open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Arkangel is our supported housing project that offers a route back to independent living for its residents.

Why do we do it?
The Ark has a Christian foundation and seeks to serve God by helping those who are in need.

You can find out more about the Wirral Churches’ Ark Project on their website.

January 10, 2010 by Kay

Following on from our previous post, all the places for the Wirral TweetUp have been taken.  All 40 places “sold out” in 26 hours which is pretty impressive.
